Shirley Kuan denies cash cow allegations

Talent manager Shirley Kuan has strongly denied allegations that actress Bea Alonzo was her "cash cow," saying she finds such claims insulting and dismissive of her decades-long career in the entertainment industry.

In an earlier media conference, Shirley Kuan addressed criticism suggesting that her professional and financial success depended heavily on Bea, whom she previously managed.

"I find that very insulting, na parang ang tingin nila sa akin, pulubi, na parang kung wala na si Bea sa akin, magugutom na ako," Shirley said.

The veteran talent manager pointed to her more than three decades of experience in show business, saying her reputation speaks for itself.

"At tanungin niyo kahit sino dito sa showbiz, more than 30 years na ako dito. Meron bang magsasabi sa inyo na nagutom ako or nangharbat ako ng pera or I cheated my artist out of their talent fee, meron bang ganoon?" she said.

Shirley also questioned the perception that she was financially dependent on any one artist.

"And meron bang impression sa showbiz na mahirap ako?" she added.

According to Shirley, attributing her success solely to Bea undermines the work she has done throughout her career managing numerous artists.

"I just wanted to make this clear ha, Bea did not make me rich, nor will she make me poor," she said.

She likewise urged critics to stop referring to the actress as her "cash cow."

"So, stop calling her my cash cow. I have bigger stars that I am handling, who are busier than her," Shirley said.

Shirley Kuan's remarks came amid ongoing discussions surrounding her recent resignation as Bea Alonzo's manager, which she previously said stemmed from a series of incidents that ultimately led her to end their professional relationship.

Despite the controversy, Shirley Kuan maintained that her career and livelihood were never dependent on a single artist, emphasizing her long-standing presence and track record in the entertainment industry.
